Lutherans and the Roman Catholics pray for unity

In these days, the northern hemisphere is celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This year, the theme chosen is: “Reconciliation. The love of Christ compels us.” In the Holy Land, Christians gathered in prayer, thereby demonstrating that it is possible to go beyond the differences.

The tradition of bringing together the Eastern, the Orthodox, the Protestant and the Catholic churches to pray for unity began in 1908 and is still alive even after more than a century later! In fact, throughout the week, Christians of the Holy Land gathered in different churches of Jerusalem for various shared celebrations.
