A procession on the streets of the old city of Jerusalem, animated by songs and prayers. Thus the Christian community of the Holy City celebrated the end of May, traditionally dedicated to Our Lady.

The event began with the recitation of the rosary in the St. Savior Franciscan monastery and with the Eucharistic celebration, presided by the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Francis Patton in the presence of the Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate, Pierbattista Pizzaballa.

From here, among songs and prayers, hundreds of the faithful, almost exclusively present from the local community, walked through the streets and alleys of the Christian quarter, holding the statue of the Virgin Mary during the procession.

First, a blessing in the courtyard of the friars’ school, then a brief stop in the church of the Latin Patriarchate, to later proceed toward the Jaffa Gate, a historical place from which pilgrims and visitors used to enter the holy city; and lastly, the final blessing in the courtyard of the Custodial curia.

So many girls and women dressed like the Madonna, to express the devotion of a people, or gratitude for a favor received.
