Salvation: the birth of the mother of Jesus.
“Blessed art thou, O Virgin Mary, and worthy of all praise, because the Sun of Justice, Christ our God, was born of thou!” It is the song of the gospel acclamation in the Mass dedicated to the birth of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8 at the St. Anne’s Basilica in Jerusalem.
At the beginning of the Mass the priests descended into the crypt to incense the cave dedicated to the event.
St. Anne’s Basilica was filled with the faithful of the Holy Land, with the local religious and pilgrims. The celebrant emphasized that Mary’s birth marks the beginning of the history of salvation.
