In Emmaus Al-Qubeibeh, hundreds of faithful gathered for the feast of the Lord’s apparition to the disciples.
“And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him.”
This biblical passage, narrated by the Luke the Evangelist, describes Jesus’ encounter with the disciples in Emmaus after his resurrection.
In commemoration of that day, hundreds of local Christians and pilgrims gathered together with the Franciscan community (on Easter Monday, March 28,) at the Basilica of Emmaus in order to celebrate the Lord’s appearance to the disciples, Simon and Cleophas.
