The holy city between tension, hope and faith. Hundreds of pilgrims have visited the holy places.
Jerusalem is currently experiencing tension, hope and faith.
From its beginnings, the holy city has lived in serenity to moments of great tension.
Amid this diversity, hundreds of pilgrims have visited the city and the holy sites from October 11 through October 15.
In a follow-up meeting with the tourism industry professionals, which took place last October 11 at the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, we have concluded that ‘there were no significant cancellations in tourist bookings to date’. This information was also confirmed for the shrines.
In any event, a series of measures were taken.
Minister Yariv Levin, in fact, instructed the security officials and the Ministry professional staff to be available to operators’ as well as tourists’ requests at all times, in order to provide immediate solutions and assistance.
All relevant information will be forwarded immediately to tour operators and tourist guides. The sanctuary will remain open until 6:00pm.
In the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, pilgrims are welcomed to pray until the evening hours, until 9:00 pm.
The Custody of the Holy Land strongly urges pilgrims to visit the holy places, now, more than ever.
In a recent interview, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Custos of the Holy Land, said: “Despite everything, we want to believe in a future that embraces peace for this country, a peaceful future that we know is not near; however, as people of paith, we trust and believe peace will be possible.”
